MSTRKRFT

Thursday night I joined some friends for the MSTRKRFT concert at Dante's downtown.
It was a late night considering the group didn't come on until midnight!
Work on Friday was a little rough...
Here are some pics courtesy Merc Photography.

Can you imagine wearing these??!
Christian Louboutin lace-ups.
Channeling both Michael Jackson and Judy Garland.
I already have an outfit in my head :)

Daydreaming about holiday parties...

I wouldn't quite consider it the holidays yet, but it's close enough that I keep catching myself daydreaming about various holiday activities...pumpkin pie, presents, Christmas ornaments, but most of all...PARTIES.
Holiday parties are my absolute favorite to dress up for. Red lipstick, sparkly jewelry and party dresses make any girl giddy.
These lovely dresses caught my eye on ModCloth.

Movie Monday

It's very rare that I see a modern movie that I really adore. Most of my favorite movies were made before 1985, but last night we went to see 'An Education' starting Carrey Mulligan and Peter Sarsgaard and it was amazing. It had all the subject matter a movie needs to pull me in...love, Paris, fashion, heartbreak and strong intelligent women -hooray! Carrey is particularly believable in her role as Jenny, and I must say that I fell in love with her entire wardrobe.

Miss Natasha Kahn

This chick is just about the coolest kid on the block.
She never fails to impress me with her style and music. I've even heard her referred to as 'The New Stevie Nicks'!
If you haven't already checked out Bat for Lashes, you should do so right now - you will not regret it. Her music is the kind of melodic, folksy tunes that I can listen to over and over again.
Oh yes, she may or may not be the reason I decided to get bangs...

It's Official

Daylight savings is here...the light is leaving me. Soon the only daylight I will see will be on my lunch breaks and on the weekends.
Sigh.

Halloween

This Halloween was spent in Eugene (my home of oh-so-many years ago) and was the second year Scott and I have done a couples theme. My original idea (which I still want to do at some point) was to be Brett and Jermaine from 'Flight of the Concords', but when I went to the Red Light to help my roommate pick out her costume, I was completely swept up the the flurry of Halloween-mania. I found an incredible baby blue prom dress from the 70s. It has tons of tulle and is just about as princess-y as it gets. After trying it on, I really didn't have a choice, I had to buy it. A few days later I went back with my brother to get his Borat costume (which was awesome!) and I picked out the rest of Scott's outfit. I think we make a pretty cute 70s prom couple (the only problem being that he is sans crown.)

Happy Halloween!

I'm headed down to Eugene to celebrate.
Pictures to follow.
Enjoy!

Work Partay

For the last three weeks, we have been planning a launch party for our new website and agency branding. Last night...we DID it!
We opened our office to all our friends, family and clients and gave them free reign over one of our office walls. We supplied everyone with paint pens and told them to make their mark, which resulted in a visual montage of characters, phrases and um...bodily functions.
We even got written up on Byron Beck's blog!
I'm completely exhausted after spending over 16 hours on my feet yesterday, but in the end it was totally worth it.
Still loving my job =)

Content 09

Last night some girlfriends and I headed to the Ace Hotel for 'Content 09'. Initially not knowing what to expect, I have to say I was blown away by the awesomeness of the event. Each room on the 2nd floor of the Ace Hotel was taken over by a local designer.
Portland does not get enough credit for the creative culture that thrives here.
My favorite designer of the evening was Stone and Honey. I absolutely LOVE their prismatic jewelry.
Enjoy my pics from the event - they made it on to PDX Pipeline!

I wish this was my job...

This looks amazing. Can you imaging spending all your time shopping the globe for treasures...and getting paid for it!

Old Friends

In my experience, surprise parties just never work out very well. Usually no one is surprised and the person who planned it ends up feeling awful all night.
Well, that was the case until last Saturday, when my good friend Afton threw a party for her boyfriend Brad.
Not only did she manage to get his entire family to fly across the country for his birthday and gather all of his Portland friends, but she (and everyone else) kept their mouths shut about it for weeks!
Brad almost fell over when he saw everyone.
It was amazing!

Hemmingway

I have officially embarked on my first literary binge, and so far I am LOVING it.
For the longest time, I avoided reading any of Ernest Hemmingway's books, why, I'm not exactly sure.
A few weeks ago, while roaming the aisles at Powell's (my own personal version of Tiffany's) I picked up a copy of A Moveable Feast. After reading the synopsis I thought to myself, Paris, artists, love and relationships - sounds good to me!
After the first few pages I was officially hooked. Hemmingway is my new love.
Next I read The Sun Also Rises, which takes place in both Paris and Pamplona, Spain during the San Fermin festival.
Hemmingway's novels are a breeze to read and deal with love in it's most simple and honest form.
Needless to say, I'm stoked for my next Ernest adventure.

Inspiring Strength

The October issue of Vogue has the loveliest and most inspiring article on Michelle Williams.
My favorite quote about her is from Ryan Gosling, he says "She's like Montana. If you want to get anywhere in Montana you have to sit tight. You're on Montana time. It's beautiful, but it's vast."
There is something to be said for modesty in today's world. A smart, beautiful, honest and well-spoken woman like Michelle deserves praise and respect.
She is a true lady.

Gives me the Chillllssss

This year I decided not to buy the $60 Music Fest Northwest wristband...probably a bad idea.
Nevertheless I made it to Jimmy Mak's last night to see one of my favorite new artists:
MAYER HAWTHORNE.
Let's just say that I loved his music before the show and have been absolutely obsessed with it ever since.
Unfortunately these are the only semi-acceptable shots I managed to get during the show.
Here is another peak at Mayer and his song "Just Ain't Gonna Work Out"
Enjoy!

My tomatoes have grown!

Being that these are my first successful veggies, I am very very proud.
I will use them in a salad tonight and hopefully have more ready for later this week.
I just love growing my own food. It feels so natural and healthy.

Meet Me At The Fair

This weekend 5 friends piled into a little gold Camry and drove all the way to Salem. And for what, you might ask?
The Oregon State Fair.
Need I say more?

I will always prefer spinning rides to falling rides.

Our first funnel cake.
Didn't last very long...

Can't wait until next year!
